Whether it’s an old barn on acreage you just bought, a fire-damaged structure, or a slab that needs to come out before a new build goes in, demolition is usually the first call before anything else can start. Boundless Excavation & Contracting works as one of the demolition contractors serving the Chattanooga area — residential demolition, concrete and structure demo, and site debris removal — clearing the site and hauling debris so your project can move to the next phase without a separate contractor and a separate schedule. We coordinate utility disconnection and Tennessee 811 locates before equipment ever touches the structure. Call (423) 615-4885 for a free estimate.
What Demolition Actually Involves
Demolition is the controlled removal of a structure, slab, or portion of a building — down to bare ground or down to whatever’s staying, depending on the scope. Before anything comes down, OSHA requires a written engineering survey of the structure to assess its condition and the risk of unplanned collapse, and every utility running to the building — electric, gas, water, sewer — has to be shut off, capped, or otherwise controlled outside the building line, with the utility company notified in advance. Once that’s confirmed, we bring in an excavator fitted with a hydraulic hammer, shear, or grapple depending on what’s coming down — a hammer for concrete and masonry, a shear for framing and steel, a grapple for loading debris. Material gets separated as it comes down where practical, and debris gets loaded and hauled off site. What starts as a structure that’s in the way, damaged, or simply not needed anymore ends as a clear, graded site ready for the next trade or the next use.
Our Demolition Process
Step 1 — Structural Survey & Utility Disconnect: Before demolition starts, we assess the structure’s condition and coordinate disconnecting electric, gas, water, and sewer service with the utility companies involved — a requirement under OSHA’s demolition standards, and one that protects your crew and ours.
Step 2 — Tennessee 811 Locate: Since demolition counts as excavation-adjacent activity under Tennessee law, we submit an 811 locate before equipment moves in, so nothing underground gets damaged in the process.
Step 3 — Mechanical Demolition: Our excavator, fitted with the right attachment for the job — hydraulic hammer for concrete and masonry, shear for framing and steel — brings the structure down in a controlled sequence rather than an uncontrolled collapse.
Step 4 — Debris Separation & Hauling: We separate debris where it makes sense — concrete, metal, and general debris — and haul it off site rather than leaving it staged for someone else to deal with.
Step 5 — Site Grading & Cleanup: Once the structure and debris are gone, we grade the site level and clean, so it’s ready for whatever comes next — new construction, a graded lot, or simply usable ground again.
Serving Chattanooga and the Surrounding Area
We take on demolition projects throughout Hamilton County — old outbuildings and barns on rural acreage near Sale Creek and Bakewell, residential demolition ahead of new builds in neighborhoods like Hixson and East Brainerd, and concrete and slab removal on sites throughout the Chattanooga area. Learn more about our full range of services.
A good share of our demolition work comes ahead of new construction on rural lots, where an old structure has to come down before land clearing and site work can even start — which is one reason we keep demolition, clearing, and grading under the same crew rather than three separate contractors.
Why Chattanooga Homeowners & Builders Choose Boundless Excavation & Contracting
Demolition is one more service we keep in-house rather than subcontracting out, which means the same crew that brings a structure down can also grade the site and handle any utility trenching your next phase needs — no gap between contractors, no separate mobilization.
We follow OSHA’s demolition standards on every job — a written engineering survey before work starts, and utilities shut off, capped, or controlled outside the building line before demolition begins — along with a Tennessee 811 locate before any equipment moves in.
